ZA SRS Transition
ZA Registry Consortium (Pty) Ltd (ZARC) was appointed as the new registry administrator for the four commercial .za second-level domains (SLDs) on 1 October 2022. This appointment affected the administration of co.za, net.za, org.za and web.za domain names and their Accredited Registrars.
As part of our appointment, we committed to a registry transition process that was secure, transparent and as seamless as possible. Our transition teams worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that we met these objectives and can confirm that the SRS Transition as a project, is now completed. We are still grappling with a few minor issues which we will hopefully have resolved within this week.
All four SLDs were migrated from their current separate registry instances to a single shared registry system (SRS). This resulted in one new EPP endpoint for all four SLDs, instead of four separate endpoints.
In addition to the transition of the registry systems, there were transitional changes to the registrar portal, billing and payment systems, and the registrar terms and conditions, amongst others. You will find details about those changes here.
SRS Connection Issues
Some registrars are facing connection issues. We have prepared a troubleshooting guide here which can be used to restore connectivity. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact our support team from your portal account.
Less than 3% of our Accredited Registrars are facing connectivity issues.
We do find this rather encouraging to see that our Registrars were, overall, very well prepared for this major upgrade to SRS.
Technical Support
All issues and questions relating to the ZA EPP Registry Registrar System must be raised in the Contact/Support pages through the Registrar Portal. This is to ensure that our support department tracks and addresses all issues. If you have an account, please log on to the Registrar Portal and submit a support request online.
